Bringing together the Cape Cod community and the Cape Cod cannabis industry for GROW THE VOTE and a night of food, music, conversation, community with some time to talk about Question 8 and what’s at stake for the adult-use cannabis program.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Massachusetts voters will decide the future of recreational cannabis in the Commonwealth. A statewide ballot question seeks to repeal Massachusetts’ regulated adult use cannabis program. If approved, the measure would eliminate legal recreational cannabis sales across the state while leaving the medical cannabis program in place. The campaign opposing the repeal, Stop the Repeal, encourages voters to learn about the proposal and its potential impacts before Election Day. Whether you’re a Massachusetts resident, a Cape Cod local, or one of the millions of visitors who enjoy responsibly purchasing cannabis while vacationing on the Cape, understanding what’s at stake is important.
IF this initiative passes it will have catastrophic affects, directly and indirectly, across Massachusetts:
- Job losses: Over 21,000 individual agents and industry workers face displacement as commercial cultivation, manufacturing, and retail operations unwind.
- Tax revenue loss: An estimated annual loss of nearly $300 million in state taxes plus $50 million in municipal local-option taxes, squeezing local and state budgets that fund public health and addiction services.
- Business closures: Roughly 400 active retail storefronts would be forced to permanently shut down or transition strictly to medical-only sales.
A repeal via Question 8 on the November 2026 ballot carries severe direct and indirect secondary losses. Beyond the immediate destruction of jobs and state revenue, cascading economic, regulatory, and public health losses would impact communities and adjacent industries across the state.
While the hosts of this event support all efforts to rally voters against Massachusetts Ballot Question 8, this event is unaffiliated with any activist or formal opposition groups.
